When Audun Sivertsen Fjeldvær now takes over as CEO of ScaleAQ, it is one of the world’s largest and leading suppliers of technology, advanced solutions and systems to the aquaculture industry that will have a new CEO. Fjeldvær will lead a group in strong growth and progress with 900 employees at 33 locations in eight countries.
ScaleAQ, which is headquartered in Trondheim, Norway, recently reported solid growth and total revenues in 2023 of NOK 3.4 billion. Now the company sees opportunities to both double and perhaps even triple the business.
Audun Fjeldvær, CEO of ScaleAQ
“With Audun in the CEO chair, ScaleAQ has a leader with extensive experience and knowledge of the industry. Over a number of years, he has demonstrated ability to understand customers need and what opportunities and challenges the industry is facing, not least in terms of fish welfare and sustainability. As a member of the group’s management team, he has played a key role in establishing and developing ambitious goals and strategies, which he will now have an even more central role in implementing,” says ScaleAQ’s Chairman of the Board Torgeir Svae.
Audun Fjeldvær has been recruited internally. He has held senior positions in what is now ScaleAQ since 2013, within sales, product strategy and technology development. Since April 2023, he has headed the group’s largest division, ScaleAQ Seabased. He also has first-hand experience from salmon farming as a shift manager at sea facilities in SalMar for many years.
“I am looking forward to taking on the job as CEO. ScaleAQ is an important partner for our customers. We develop technology and deliver products and solutions that are critical for profitable and sustainable salmon farming. We will strengthen our good collaboration with customers and at the same time ensure that all good aspects of the ScaleAQ culture are continued. When our customers succeed, we also succeed,” says the new CEO, Audun Fjeldvær.
Internal promotion in the ScaleAQ Seabased division
Fjeldvær will formally take over as early as 19 August this year. His close colleague Sigurd Flaat Liljefjell will at the same time take over as head of ScaleAQ Seabased, where he has been a central part of the management team as CFO from 2023. Liljefjell has been with ScaleAQ since 2018 and knows the culture of the group, as well as the entire process from customer to delivery well.
“Liljefjell has shown great commitment and initiative and, together with the management team of Seabased, has contributed greatly to ScaleAQ achieving the results that we are now seeing. Together, we will bring the entire group even closer to the industry. We will continue the strong customer focus and good operations and work patiently and closely together with our customers on tomorrow’s solutions,” says Fjeldvær.
“The fact that we have leaders like Sigurd who are ready to move up and fill new roles says a lot about our qualities as an organization. As we succeed and grow, more and more employees will have exciting career opportunities here with us. Of course, I know ScaleAQ Seabased best, but have seen the same qualities in other parts of the group and look forward to getting to know everyone better,” Fjeldvær elaborates.
Group CFO Svein Vestermo, who has also been acting CEO since November last year, will as planned , continue as Group CFO and member of the group’s management team.
