ScaleAQ strengthens its position as a leader in marine constructions

Over many years, ScaleAQ has established itself as one of the foremost players in technology development, engineering, and consulting for marine constructions in the aquaculture industry. Since the establishment of the Marine Engineering department in 2014, under the leadership of Martin Søreide, the company has delivered innovative and secure solutions to customers worldwide.

Consolidation of expertise under one unit

ScaleAQ is now consolidating all disciplines within structure, hydrodynamics, projects, mooring, development concepts, and documentation into one unit under Marine Engineering. This unit will be led by Håkon Tønne, who recently assumed the role of Director of Marine Engineering. With this new structure, the department will consist of 26 employees and will further strengthen its capabilities through recruitment in 2025.

This interdisciplinary team enhances the company’s ability to deliver comprehensive and tailored solutions in close collaboration with customers. Marine Engineering offers services including the development of components and equipment, design and engineering of pen constructions and mooring systems, as well as the creation of operational, maintenance, and certification concepts.

New leadership roles in Marine Engineering

To meet the industry’s increasing demands and clearly define areas of responsibility, ScaleAQ has assigned the following experienced leaders to key roles within Marine Engineering:

Håkon Tønne assumes the role of Director of Marine Engineering. He has been Product Manager for Mooring since 2013 and has led ScaleAQ to become a market leader in this field.

Martin Søreide becomes CTO. Since 2014, he has led Marine Engineering and played a key role in the development of the company’s marine constructions.

Kasper Wåsjø s appointed Head of Mooring. With extensive expertise and long-standing experience in aquaculture mooring systems, he will further develop the team and ensure high quality.

Lars Andreas Larsen becomes Head of Pens and Nets. He brings significant experience from the supplier industry and will continue to develop existing constructions for pens and nets.

Magnus Theodorsen takes on the role of Head of New Concepts Development. He will lead dedicated projects focusing on developing concepts that support ScaleAQ’s market growth.

Geir Håvard Espnes, as Technical Compliance Manager, will lead the Documentation unit. His expertise in aquaculture regulations and standards makes him well-suited to strengthen the company’s documentation and compliance efforts.
