Meet us at AquaNor 2021

ScaleAQ will be participating both physically and digitally in this year’s edition of AquaNor. Meet us at Skansen port, at the Spektrum area (A-167), or at our digital stand.

We are especially excited about this year’s AquaNor! And not just because we have been on the edge of our seats for 18 months without the chance to meet in person, but also because we have so much to show you.

We will be demonstrating an almost full-scale facility at Skansen. This year’s exhibition barge, Nova Concrete, is bound for Iceland and is designed to withstand extra harsh conditions, the FR560 floating collar (157m with 400mm bottom ring) is packed with almost all the extras available, and the industry’s latest celebrity, the AQS Tor will be gracing us with its presence. We have a number of launches and updates we would love to talk about – including our new SmartSpreader that lets you determine how far the pellet is cast into the pen.

Our main tent is set up to facilitate great dialogue, featuring both a full operator station and plenty of seating for chatting. We look forward to seeing you!

Launches

As per tradition, we are proud to be launching several exciting products at this year’s AquaNor:

SmartSpreader

Our new spreader will allow you to select the distance that you wish to cast pellets in the pen. This newly-developed spreader will distribute feed across the entire pen surface more gently than the current air-driven models on the market. Our software application, FeedStation, allows you to determine the precise distance or to define a pattern that ensures that each and every square inch of the pen is covered. We will be exhibiting SmartSpreaders at Skansen Port and you are more than welcome to stop by and examine these in person, or remotely by using our virtual simulation tools.

Orbit HD Mobile Camera System

We are proud to present for the first time our mobile digital inspection camera system. Controls, display and camera connection are brought together into one waterproof case that allows you to transport the camera to the tank or pen you wish to inspect. The case features recording capabilities and can store captured footage, while it is also possible to connect it to all digital Orbit cameras.

CIU (Pen Interface Unit)

The infrastructure you have at the edge of your pen is crucial in determining which smart components can be fitted and deployed. Our brand new CIU cabinet is modular. This makes adaptations for new equipment far easier. Connecting sensors for properties such as oxygen, salinity, current and so on become a straightforward matter of plug and play. The modular design also makes maintenance far easier.

Knowledger

Have you ever wondered why pen 3 is not doing as well as pen 6, or why location A has historically always done better than all other sites in the region? Knowledger is designed to answer precisely those questions. Knowledger will show you all your lost feeding opportunities across all sites and regions. By monitoring planned and unforeseen activities, feeding and environmental parameters, including the operator’s handling of these issues, Knowledger is an effective tool for historical analysis, learning and optimal biological performance.

Orbit HD Fixed Camera

Camera use in pens has changed recently. In order to help the operator to assess the appetite of the fish and carry out everything from straightforward inspection tasks to pellet detection, lice counting, biomass measurements and other advanced tasks. Orbit HD Fixed is a camera offering extreme light sensitivity and is designed to be fitted to a fixed mounting in the pen. One set point makes it easier to ascertain reliable measurements that can subsequently form the basis for advanced video analysis.

Can be used in pens or closed facilities.

The Orbit HD Fixed is our first camera where we have focused on use in closed systems during our development process. Special adaptations to the chip, lens and housing provide a 120 degree field of view, and when combined with its extreme light sensitivity this means that the camera is ideal for use in closed tanks whether on shore or at sea.

Seminars

On Wednesday, August 25th and Thursday, August 26th, we will be hosting a series of seminars at Solsiden (Beddingen 16). Due to current COVID-19 regulations, advance registration is mandatory. Sign up below.

Wednesday, August 25th

08:15–09:45
Breakfast seminar: Nær fremtid innen havbruk (The Short-term Future for Aquaculture)

Aquaculture remains, as ever, in a state of evolution. Two key areas are closed systems – whether on shore or at sea – and aquaculture operations in more exposed locations. We will be presenting ScaleAQ’s latest thinking on the needs and prerequisites for success in relation to these practical examples. The seminar will be held in Norwegian.

08:15–08:45    Light breakfast refreshments
08:45–09:15    Session 1: CAS (Closed Aquaculture Systems)
09:15–09:45    Session 2: Exposed aquaculture

09:30–11:00
Brunch seminar: Ikke-medikamentell avlusing i 2021 og fremover (Non‐medicinal Delousing in 2021 and the Years Ahead)

Thermal delousing, the most commonly used method in IMM, recently faced removal as an approved method. How did we end up in a situation where the preferred method was on the verge of discontinuation, and how do we avoid ending up in the same situation again in future? At the same time, SkaMik 1.5 has delivered good results, and the new technology Wellfighter in combination with fresh water allows a dramatic reduction in total treatment time. ScaleAQ and Moen Marin will be discussing their work around developing and certifying Thermolicer, SkaMik and Wellfighter. Can they be combined? The seminar will be held in Norwegian.

09:30–10:00    Light brunch refreshments
10:00–10:30
Session 1: Thermolicer in 2021
10:30–11:00      Session 2: Flushing technology, Wellfighter and SkaMik

Thursday, August 26th

08:30–10:00
Breakfast seminar: Den diffuse delen av havbruk (The Unclear Aspect of Aquaculture)

Most of us like to stick to what we understand – which is all too often what we can see and touch. However, there are crucial aspects of aquaculture that we cannot always perceive in the same material terms. Two of these are the concept of sustainability and the use of digital solutions. This breakfast seminar will make the unclear aspects of the field a little more tangible. What is ScaleAQ doing in terms of sustainability, and why is it important to aquaculture operators? What significance does ScaleAQ’s digital initiative have for future opportunities in the industry? The seminar will be held in Norwegian.

08:30–09:00    Light breakfast refreshments
09:00–09:30    Session 1: Sustainability
09:30–10:00     Session 2: Digital

09:25–11:00
Brunch seminar:
Bærekraft i havbruk: Taksonomi, økonomi og hybridisering (Sustainability in Aquaculture: Taxonomy, economics and hybridization)

Today’s investments will have an impact on your footprint and finances in the years to come. Regulations are coming in waves in the industry, sustainable financing is already a concept and technology is constantly evolving. Hear more about these topics and how Moen Marin works with state-of-the art technology on today’s vessels and how this can be adapted to the best technology choices in the future.

09:25–09:55    Light brunch refreshments
09:55–11:00
