Milda – new plastic pen for sheltered sites

ScaleAQ launches Milda, a new patented plastic pen developed entirely from plastic. The solution is designed to support more efficient operations, reduce maintenance needs, and improve control over lifecycle costs.

Milda was presented for the first time at HavExpo 2026, where a model of the pen was on display.

– Milda has been developed to reduce operational complexity. Fewer components and an all-plastic design result in lower maintenance requirements and more predictable performance over time, says Lars Andreas Larsen.

The pen features a patented pipe-in-pipe design with injection-moulded HDPE brackets and has been developed without steel components or welded stopper blocks. This results in a simpler construction with fewer wear parts and reduced maintenance follow-up during operations.

“ScaleAQ’s pens provide a solution you can trust – solid, safe, and built for the future.”

A clear addition to the portfolio

ScaleAQ currently offers Frøyaringen as its flagship solution, developed for exposed sites and operations that require a highly robust pen.

With Milda, the portfolio is expanded with a solution tailored for sheltered sites. The pen is developed for customers seeking an all-plastic solution with lower complexity and reduced maintenance requirements.

This creates a clear distinction within the portfolio and provides a stronger basis for selecting the right solution for the right site.

Developed for lower resource use and stable operations

Milda has been developed with the aim of reducing resource use throughout its lifetime. The all-plastic construction involves fewer material types and a reduced need for component replacement, contributing to a lower overall environmental footprint over time.

At the same time, operational reliability has been ensured through a robust design. The flotation pipes are filled with EPS foam, securing buoyancy even in the event of damage or punctures.

– For sites with lower exposure, the need is often for a solution that is both robust and easy to operate. Milda has been developed to meet this need, while also maintaining requirements for safety and stable operations, says Njål Tvedt.

Designed for sheltered sites

Milda is developed for sites with lower exposure, where the need for extensive additional equipment is limited. In these environments, a simpler construction can contribute to more efficient operations and improved cost control.

The pen has low maintenance requirements, fewer components, and is designed for easy installation and handling.

Certification and biosecurity

Milda has been tested and certified in accordance with NS 9415:2021 and NYTEK23. The solution has also been verified to provide the same level of biosecurity as traditional pens and can be cleaned using the same procedures.
